Voice To Text (A Call To Action)

Voice To Text (A Call To Action)
By Jeff Earlywine

I am sure you would agree with me, the voice to text technology was a magnificent invention. Ray Kurzweil was the principal inventor of the first charge-coupled device flatbed scanner, the first omni-font optical character recognition, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, the first commercial text-to-speech synthesizer, the Kurzweil K250 music synthesizer capable of simulating the sound of the grand piano and other orchestral instruments, and the first commercially marketed large-vocabulary speech recognition (voice to text). What a brilliant man.

What he may or may not have known was just how powerful words really are. I am not referring to the “sticks and stones” saying we all heard as a kid but positive words that when spoken bring confidence, motivation, power and success. Voice to text is really – voice to action. You “tell” your cell phone to find you a local restaurant and it does it. You speak and action takes place.

If you are in the sales profession – and really, aren’t we all to some degree – you know what I mean. You have found through your sales training that words can self-motivate. The words you speak to yourself will get you out of bed in the morning, flying down the road to your first sales call, and give you the confidence to call that tough referral and ask for an appointment. Power and action words will also equip you to not only get the opportunity to present your product but with a well-crafted sales presentation you will close the deal. It has been my experience that very successful sales people are quite the “wordsmiths”.

And how about you leaders – parents, managers, CEOs, and coaches? Pretty much all of us, right? Words are so powerful here too. As a leader you can motivate people to achieve great things by using the right words. You can inspire them, challenge them, and even change them with the right words. How many stories have you heard where someone grew to tremendous heights and success all because someone in their early life took time for them and spoke the right words? Do you have someone like that in your life? If so, take a few minutes and use your words to thank them.

Lastly, how about your words to “you?” Yep, to you. I don’t know about you but it is much easier for me to think negatively about myself, but hard to speak the same. So I challenge you right now, stop the negative thoughts and speak powerful words to yourself. Great things happen when you constantly hear positive words. Especially if those words are coming out of YOUR mouth.

So the next time you use Kurzweil’s invention, remember to also speak powerful words into your life and business. Literally, more power to you.
